This area of the Middle East is one of the world’s most intriguing regions. Egypt, in particular, has a well-documented history dating back some 5000 years and the treasures of the Nile Valley bear witness to one of the greatest civilizations ever known. Jordan and Syria also offer a rich bounty to curious travellers, with dramatic ancient cities and dynamic modern cultures. Turkey remains a favourite, and we take you to some of our favourite places and allow enough time to explore the stupendous capital, Istanbul.
Our tours are not simply designed to show you the highlights of these three great countries. We also take you to see some special highlights like Aphamea (Syria), Pella and Um Qais (Jordan) - and we have a particular expertise in the old part of Cairo, where we’ll show you stunning examples of medieval art and architecture that most visitors miss.
Our Tours – How do they work?
Nearly all of our tours are designed for independent travellers. They are not group tours, and we can operate any of them just for one person. We have presented a selection of our most popular itineraries in our brochure but we can easily amend any of them to suit your flight schedules – in fact we tend to do this more often than not. Just tell us what you want to do, and for how long, and we’ll plan the itinerary for you – at the best possible prices. If you prefer to join a group, we also offer a couple of specialist escorted tours which you’ll find on pages 14 and 15 of the brochure. Accommodation and Nile Cruises
We operate quality holidays. In the major cities and towns we use both standard and superior 4-star hotels and the majority of our Nile Cruises are 5-star. Our selection criteria for hotels include location and quality of service and, where possible, we use family-run hotels or places with character. For example, in Alexandria we use a hotel built in 1906 and in both Damascus and Aleppo we stay in old homes now converted into boutique hotels.
